Our mission is to: Preserve the German Shepherd Dog in accordance with Breed Standards Promote camaraderie and sportsmanship among dog owners Affirm humane training methods and support responsible breeding practices. Train and promote German Shepherd dogs for the sport of Schutzhund. Support, organize and compete in trials for Schutzhund. Interest and educate the public about dogs in the sport of Schutzhund.

Membership: After three weeks of attending club-training activities, a prospective member will be required to pay $300.00 training fee, and will be required to submit a membership application. After a minimum of six weeks from the receipt of the application, the prospective member will be voted on as a probationary member at the next Greater Washington D.C. Schutzhund Group (GWDCSG) general meeting. If the applicant member has not regularly attended club activities, they will not be considered for probationary membership. There is a six-month probationary period for accepted probationary members. Probationary members have the right to fully participate in official club activities and functions. Probationary members do not have voting privileges in club business, but must abide by the rules, regulations and by-laws of the GWDCSG. At the end of the six-month probationary period, the probationary member will be voted on as a full club member. Full club members have the right to fully participate in all club activities, and have full voting privileges in club business, and must continue to abide by the rules, regulations and by-laws of the GWDCSG. The $300.00 training fee is non-refundable and does not automatically entitle the applicant to a membership in the GWDCSG.
